About
Colette Weber Shaw (b. 1999) is an award-winning playwright and filmmaker based in Los Angeles, CA. Coletteās work explores magical realism, the othering nature of growing up, and the absurdity of the human condition. Her plays have been performed at The Elysian Theater, Theater of NOTE, the Blank Theater, and the Young Actors Studio in Los Angeles; as well as the Tank Theater, the Theaterlab Atelier, and Sarah Lawrence College Theater in New York. Her films have screened with Sister Midnight, The Great Film Club, The Bush Films, Cabin in the Woods Film Festival, and Eerie International Film Festival.
In all forms of writing, Colette highlights the magic and banality of every day life, the lonesomeness and joys of adolescence, and the othering yet unifying nature of queerness. Her work grapples with everything from friendship breakups, to desert purgatories, post-apocalyptic summer camps, sad zombies, luddite fantasies, and monstrous women. Above all, she loves a bittersweet ending.
Shaw completed her undergrad at Sarah Lawrence College in 2022 and will be graduating from UCLA with an MFA in Screenwriting in 2027.
Outside of writing, Colette enjoys clowns, collaging, jewelry making, and hanging out with her dog Winnie.
